Dr. Jelle J.P. Wouters

Dr. Jelle J.P. Wouters is a social anthropologist, author of 11 books, and Chair of the Himalayan Centre for Environmental Humanities at Royal Thimphu College, Bhutan. Educated at Oxford and NEHU (Shillong), his extensive ethnographic research centers on tribal governance, grassroots democracy, and ecological humanities across the upland stretches of Northeast India and the Himalayas. He is best known for his books In the Shadows of Naga Insurgency and Vernacular Politics in Northeast India (Oxford University Press).
